test of smartness

I cannot believe I am 17( I can drive) and I also cannot believe that I still have exams 2moro. Gosh, way to celebrate me turning seventeen.

Check out this so called SMARTNESS TEST. Made me feel dumb at 17.

Are you smarter than a four year old?

A PRE-SCHOOL TEST FOR YOU

Which way is the bus below traveling?

To the left or to the right?

Can't make up your mind?

Look carefully at the picture again.

Still don't know?

Primary school children
were shown this picture and asked the same question.

90% of them gave this answer:

'The bus is traveling to the right.'

When asked, 'Why do you think the bus is traveling to the right?'

They answered:

'Because you can't see the door to get on the bus.'

How do you feel now???

I know, me too.

Life

God! Could life be anymore tiring? Anymore exhausting? Anymore annoying? And yet anymore Exciting?

Life is amazing.
Why?
It is amazing because
just because...
it is amazing

Here are some interesting facts on the brain...

here are top 10 interesting facts about the human brain:

1. Your brain is the most energy-consuming part of your body. The brain represents only 2% of the body weight, but it uses up to 20 percent of the body’s energy production. The energy is used for cell-health maintenance and to fuel electrical impulses that neurons employ to communicate with one another.

2. Your brain contains about 100 billion neurons which is about 16 times the number of people on Earth. Each of them links to as many as 10,000 other neurons. This huge number of connections opens the way to massive parallel processing within the brain.

3. The neocortex (a section of the brain involved with language and consciousness) accounts for about 76% of the mass of the human brain. Human neocortex is much larger than any animals. It gives humans unique mental capacities although its brain architecture is similar to that of more primitive species.

4. Humans do not use only 10% or less of their brain. This is a common misconception. Even though many mysteries of brain function persist, every part of the brain has a known function.

5. Neurons multiply at a rate 250,000 neurons per minute during early pregnancy.

6. 750ml of blood pumps through your brain every minute which is 15-20% of blood flow from the heart.

7. The human brain is about 75% water.

8. Your brain consumes 25 watts of power while you’re awake. This amount of energy is enough to illuminate a lightbulb.

9. It is estimated that the human brain has a raw computational power between 1013 and 1016 operations per second. It is far more that 1 million times the number of people on Earth.

10. Our brain often fools us. It often perceives things differently from the reality. For instance, check the following picture. Square A and B are actually the same shade of gray.

Well, the Raya holidays are finally here. THANK GOD! Sadly, exams are also just around the corner. WHY?!
Well, here is a short story with no ending(yet) that I have cooked up in my free time. It's amazing that I actually have free time.
*This has nothing to do with my life and the story is truely fictional*

The song keeps echoing in my head…I absolutely love it. Sadly, it was yesterday’s song. All my friends are over it, when I have just heard it’s melodious tune. I have to start keeping track of all what is going on in my life and my friends if not, I’ll be left in behind by the 2020 bus. “Angela, get down this instant! Cousin Loh is here!” Oh, no! Cousin Loh is here! Somebody get me the Help Hotline for getting rid of unwanted relatives. Not that I hold any grudges on Cousin Loh, it is just he is a bit annoying. Okay, who am I trying to fool? He is very annoying. I pretend to be held up in my room for another 5 minutes until my mum comes up and starts banging the door down. She practically drags me down two flights of stairs. I enter the living room with a fake smile and nod my head greeting hello. “Uh, Cousin Loh, here is Angela….” my mom voice trails off. By the way, if you are wondering I’m Angela Chew. “Oh, how you have grown. How old are you now?13?” Cousin Loh asks smiling like idiot. 13? Please…I’m 14. And the words ‘you don’t look 14’ better not come out from his big, fat mouth. Cause I’m a black belt in Taekwando and I’ll kick him until he flies to the Greenland and freezes over there. Sadly, he doesn’t say it. So, I have to just sit on the sofa next to my mum who is in her favourite pink dress, looking like an angel. I am an angel, just not when Cousin Loh is around.

Signing off,
YOURS TRUELY

Well, the exams are over and so are the holidays. BooHoo! But my holidays were fantastice. Visiting the Land of the Queen was beyond expectation. Okay, not really. But going back there to relive memories(my childhood memory there) was great. Not only that, I got to meet my cousins, my nieces and nephew. My youngest niece is like a doll. She is so naughty and yet she looks like an angel. Scotland was scenic with the mountains and lakes and not forgetting the castles. I had to visit a castle because without that what would a trip to UK be. I visited the Eilean Donnan Castle ( I think that's how you spell it). It was breathtaking and amazing ...Like DUH! It is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.

I had to also visit the Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Madame Tussauds. At Madame Tussauds, I meet The Beckhams, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Jeniffer Aniston, The Queen herself, Prince William and Prince Harry and not to forget some of the great leaders of this world including Mathma Gandhi, Martin Luther Jr.King and lots more. I even managed to step on the zero degree longitud line that passes through Greenwich! Cool, eh? I found it amazing. Wales was never the less beautiful. I would definitely go back to UK anytime. Except that the flight is 13 hours. But the movies I manage to enjoy on the flight were amazing.

VANTAGE POINT
A must-watch...especially if you love action, politics and anything in between.
I never knew a movie could be that enthralling.
Definitely, 5 stars.

SPIDERWICK
Unique..Exotic...I liked it!

THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL
You know what they say, Curiosity Kills the Cat...
This movie had me guessing the ending from the beginning.
Amazing acting!

GOAL
A story of true love for the game!

OUTSOURCED
One word : Different!

Well, enough of movies. Now, all I have left is reality. And right now it is so, so, only la...

Holiday in Bali

Well, exams are over and my post-exam holidays are also over. School life is going to be back in motion in the next few days. Arghh! Well, my holiday in Bali was fun. The temples in Bali were amazing. There was this temple that was built near the sea and you can see the waves crashing on it. IT WAS AMAZING! Truly beautiful. Shopping was also great. But you have to know the tricks of bargaining...if not, you will come home with empty pockets of otherwise BROKE! I enjoyed myself at the beach as well...When I did FLYING FISH...it's quite hard to explain what that is but when I upload the photos...I'll place it here. It was amazing even though I was afraid. This is what I mean, LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST...I am actually living up to that Motto. Yeah, me! I can't wait for class reunion this Saturday....
Well, tons of work to do. I have to go...

A New Year

I never thought a new year of school could be this taxing and unbelievable. The amount of homework, the new classmates and of course the new subjects are a little intimidating. But hey, it's part of Life's Journey, isn't it? But I am confident enough to say that I do not rock life at this moment. But Life, I am like a boomerang and I am going to come flying back. (I hope so) I have got so many activities fitted into the 24 hours a day in my life that I had no time to watch televison for the first two weeks of school( which is very horrifying as I am a couch potato) (I am not supposed to be functioning without my t.v.). Luckliy, I have managed to fit television back into my life and just in time for American Idol. I think that guy who sang 'We Are Brothers' (yeah, that guy who thinks Simon is everything) is hilarious. And I am quite sure that that song will become an absolute hit. It already is in my class as we couldn't stop singing it for the first two days after the American Idol telecast. As I said, homework is a big part of my life. And now I have to go and do some.

P.S. To 3A3's of 2007, I really miss you guys. I wish we could be back in the same class all over again!

2008

What a lovely day it has been. No school. No disturbance from anyone. Just me and my John Grisham, A Time To Kill storybook. I am not even half way through the 500 page book but I am already loving the story. It is about law and the courtroom scenario is just enthralling. As I inspire to be a lawyer one day(i think), this book just makes my dream even more realistic. As John Grisham is a lawyer himself, you know that the facts in the book are true. It gives me an inside life on what is feels like to be a lawyer. All I can say is it sounds really cool. But the character in the book, Jake Brigance is a defense attorney. And the last thing I would want to do is defend a criminal. But I guess there is where the most exciting part lies. I can’t wait to finish the storybook. I have to get my hands on more John Grisham books. And as for now, here I come law school even if you are not ready to accept. I will be knocking on your door in about 3 year’s time. I can’t wait! School starts tomorrow. Friends and teachers and homework will be pilling back into my life. I am half excited and have devastated. I am anxious. I am smiling and jumping around like an idiot because I am also nervous.

That was yesterday. The second day of the oh-so much anticipated 2008.
Today is today.
The 3rd of January 2008.
School has started. And the teachers have already started to freak me out about my major, MAJOR exam next year. I hardly understand anything. I feel like everything is moving too fast. I can remember it like yesterday, all the new form 1's(including me) arriving at my alma mater. And the 1A3 students grouping to be a family for the very first time. It took us some time to know each other, but we did it. And now, 3 years later, when we know each other so well, we are getting separated. It is so unfair! Two of my best friends are in different classes from me. SOB!SOB! But, hey, it's life. And that is part of LIFE's JOURNEY! Making new friends and at the same time keeping the old. I wish I could just pause the clock. Or turn back the handles. I don't want to grow up so fast. I want to enjoy life and not go of to college and learn.learn. learn. But I do hear college life is good! I will have to see for myself. Of course, there are certain things I can wait to do like drive a car! That would rock. Getting a job and working, paying for your own bills, I am not sure. Working sounds fun(if your job doesn't take the life out of you) but paying your own bills.....................................
Well, I just want to wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

YESTERDAY IS BUT A DREAM, TOMORROW A VISION OF HOPE, LOOK TO THIS DAY FOR IT IS LIFE!
(So what you waitin for punk, Live Life to the Fullest!)

Movies: Back to back

I was really excited when I found out I was going to watch two movies back to back. I have never done it before, so definitely it will be something interesting. Anyway, I watched THE GOLDEN COMPASS and I AM LEGEND. Both movies for me ended abruptly. First of all, The Golden Compass did not reach expectations. Of course, it was fantastic with a different storyline but nothing amazing. I didn't enjoy the ending coz for me it stopped half way. But that just makes you want to watch the sequel. Which is a very good idea as it guarantees more money for the film at the Box Office. As for I Am Legend, the storyline surprised me. I expected aliens not man-eating humans(if that even makes sense) . But the storyline was very interesting until the hero(Will Smith) had to sacrifice himself for mankind. It was all too sudden and unexpected. But that is also what makes a good movie. For those who love action and adventure, I Am Legend is a must-watch. The Golden Compass is another magical movie with a different twist with great acting(I must say). As for the Back to Back movie watching, it was great. And I will definitely do it again. After all, there is nothing like Seeing ORIGINAL!
"BE ORIGINAL, SEE ORIGINAL!"

Thailand...Land for experiences

Just visited the Land of The Elephants, Thailand. Took a day trip there. It was, hmm...To describe it in one word....OKAYLAH! Visited a few Buddhist temples up on a hill. The temples were nice.Very calm and peaceful. The wind was blowing really hard and it was nice just to stand there and feel it on your face. There was this amazing view of Thailand from the temple on the hill. It was breathtaking. It was as if, the whole of Thailand was under your feet. No words can describe it. Just AMAZING,AWESOME,BREATHTAKING,WONDERFUL and the list goes on. Visited a zoo there as well. Saw two white Bengal tigers. Again, very amazing. Or how I say it, CUNTED! :)
Went into the town of Hat Yai which was quite chaotic like every normal town. The mall was nice. Except for the security guards who check your bags before you enter the mall. That was a different experience for me. But it was normal for everyone else there. Other than that, the driver of the van we hired was driving really, really fast. He was weaving in and out. He misses the trucks by only three inches. It was, again another experience as he was going at 130km/h. Super fast. All in all, Thailand was a country that is different from any of the other countries I visited.

Summary: Thailand holds a lot of experiences for me.

Breathe in, breathe out. This is what I've been telling myself the past few days. The pressure has been building and today it broke it's limit. Everything from school to the movie-making, it's causing everyone some rough times. This is definitely not the icing on top of a cake more like I'm stuck down in a sewerage. Pressure, is hard to handle. But thank God for the friends I have. They have been supportive though we have our own opinions. But through all this, I have also learnt that I'm not the only one that can't make decisions. changing my mind every minute. That is habit everyone has got to loss.
Right now, I need something like dance to cool me off. Because I love to dance just for fun. I really badly wanted to enter the competition organised by Astro and Disney channel in conjuction with HSM 2. I want to dance. I don't mind cheering either. But sadly I can't even do that. It's because I have a shoulder problem which comes once in a awhile. But I did have my fair share of cheerleading. And this is coming from the bottom of my heart, practicing everyday under the hot sun, is killing but the end product when you are out there strutting your stuff to the crowd the feeling is undescribeable. It's a feeling of excitement and fun and enjoyment. I feel the same way with dance. You get to express yourself I guess, in short. Well, I like to say thanks to all those who checked in my blog and left a comment. And nanny na, don't worry, I'm talking bout you , Baby Teeba or Wish Lish. Anyway, till next time...ADIOS!!!

YOU GOTTA BE BAD, BOLD AND WISER!!!

I've been having the ups on life recently. My Life starting from my birthday this year till now has been a great. I'm not saying there weren't ups and downs...but they were only slight bumps. First, i had a great birthday suprise at T.G.I.F. Next, my frenz and I are making our own movie under a competition hosted by Panasonic which is out of this world. Making a movie, is not easy, I admit. It's difficult, very difficult. But when your with frenz...everything's s alrite. Then, I get this call from a host/tv celeb...Ashraf Sinclair. I was so excited. He wished me Happy B'day. He knows me through one of my cousins and was kind enough to give me a call. I was beaming on da other side of the phone. :) ...So, like I say..Life is difficult but sometimes it is like icing on top of a cake. That's what I'm going through rite now. And it rocks. HUNDRED PERCENT!!! So, when i'm down, I think of how blessed I am and that frown is wiped away. I have to say Adios, now. ADIOS!!!

KEEP SMILING, THE WORLD WILL SMILE BACK!

(Deep sigh)

Have you ever felt happy one second and the next really sad? I have. It's horrible. The news you get is blowing you off your mind until someone tells you a really devastating story. You have to feel sad for that person even if inside your heart is still jumping for joy. Why do we have to that? Why can't we tell that person to get lost and we are too happy to mourn over their sadness? Cause it's human nature. I have never tried it. I wonder how it feels to tell your friend off? I would never try coz I cherish their friendship even if they don't do they same. Talking bout friendship...Have you ever feel insecure around your friends? Like there is a secret goin on but you don't know about it and it is killing you? I have a few times. right there and then I feel like tearing my inside out or either theirs. Thank God I have a friend or two who I can actually talk to about this. If not, I don't think I'll survive through my daily school life. These are a few obstacles I have come across...How to cure them...I do not know...I need some help on this....SOS...

It's the holidays...

OMG... I love the holidays...went out with family and cousins...had a BLAST!!! The sun, the sea and the wind was just making me smile. I would love to just stand in the beach with the waves hitting my feet every minute. Well, as long as there is no Tsunami. I didn't get to build any sandcastles, sadly. I think I'm too old for it. I have a niece, who loves to get dirty with the sand and her brother, my nephew who can't even land his feet on the sand. He hates it that much. Huh!Kids...I bet I was like that...But it was really fun...I totally enjoyed the whole thing.

Life's first blog

Ola...whoa...I've got a blog...YIPEE!!!...
Life's journey is basically about life and all the obstacles in it. For me, life is a huge tree. We start from the seed and we grow and we are determined to reach the top. But there are the obstacles those huge branches...We might fall but the soft green grass is always there to break that fall...

"LIFE IS A MARATHON"
